I want to list my system specs and results, so those thinking of upgrading in order to play BFBC2 will know what to expect.

DFI mobo
Phenom II 550BE
4 GB Ram gaming 1333mHz
AMD/ATI HD 4830 CrossfireX (Disable AI) in true 16x configuration.
Windows 7

I'm not this first in that game each round. I think a Quad Core may load faster but Dual Core is just as fast for graphics.
I'm getting an average of 50fps @ 1920x1200 All on High with 1xAA & 1xAF on a 28" 3ms LCD monitor.
my dual video card set up is equivalent to single card between a 4870 and a 4890. when I overclock the cards it's very close to a 4890. I ran a single 4830 for over a year then added the 2nd card at the end of last year for COD WaW.  My FPS more than doubled, 105%+ increase. But BFBC2 isn't set up to optimize dual video card like COD WaW. I only see about a 60-70% increase on BFBC2.

The most important issue with FPS is to keep you minimum Frame Rate above 30.  Then everything will look smooth. I use Fraps to monitor the Frame Rate. I find that if Fraps shows me an average that stays above 40fps then I'm happy with the results. If I choose a setting such as increasing the AA then I see the average frame rate reduced to 35fps and I start seeing choppy video because the minimums have dropped to well below 30fps, if even for a split second. I know that my set up will still give me some occasions when the graphics demand is so high that the FPS will drop enough to get choppy video but I don't think it will be that often. So a faster more expensive video card will reduce the chance and occurence of having minimum frame rates below.

I believe in buying for the present. Buy what you need today and enjoy playing. when it doesn't work for you anymore buy a better one and sell the old one on ebay to some happy buyer who needed a nice card on a budget.

Enjoy.

Here's my info on my system:

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair III Formula
CPU: AMD 965 Black Edition Quad core
Memory: G.Skill F3-12800CL9 - 8 GIG
Video: HIS Radeon HD 5870 (single card)
OS: Windows 7 64bit

Originally in my system I had 6 GIG of memory, loading BFBC2 I would usually be one of the last in, other players would already be at the first flag when I first spawned, I added 2 more GIG's of memory for a total of 8 GIG's and now I'm about 4th or 5th in the game. Memory does play a big part in the loading, I'm wondering what will more memory do? What's the max before you don't see a difference in loading time? Might be time to buy some 4 GIG sticks and see what happens.

BFBC2 Settings:
Resolution: 1920 X 1200 60 Hz
Overall Quality: Advanced
Level of Detail: High
Texture Quality: High
Shadow Quality: High
Effects Quality: High
Anti Aliasing: 1X MSAA
Arisotnophic Filter: 1X
Vsync: OFF
HBAO: ON

In game I average high 40 up to 60 FPS, If I reduce the Resolution down to 1600 X 1200 my FPS goes up to mid 60's to mid 70's range.
